He's replaced the joystick on the wheelchair with an RC receiver, and built his own transmitter. The thing is pretty beautiful and horribly dangerous. Doesn't look like it would be too terribly expensive, certainly not more than an RC car powerful enough to carry the weight needed to be EB1. I would just leave out the lawnmower part, and replace that with the cart.
I think this direction makes a lot more sense than the RC car, because I'm not very confident those will be able to carry any weight. An electric wheelchair will be more than sufficient.

So I've started looking into how I'm going to motorize EB1, and the first most obvious thought is to merge the cart with an RC car. There are two types, electric and nitro. Obviously I'd go nitro.
These guys have a good intro to the fascinating world of RC vehicles.

The other option is to hack a woodchipper or a lawnmower or something.

So lots of reading to do. And I'll need to get a new shopping cart.

Spoke to Kaho this weekend. She's never worked with Gumstix, but said I should take a look at this thing. It's really cheap, so I'm a little confused. But she's gonna be here this week, so we can talk about it then.
